Regionally-allocated PLD
2021 PLD round dates
The Ministry of Education have confirmed the dates for 2021 PLD rounds. There will be four rounds of PLD, one per term, as this allows the MoE to be more responsive to emerging needs throughout the year. To provide greater certainty and consistency, there will be one date per term for all education regions and, going forward, we will standardise the PLD allocation round dates. The dates are:
Application round | Proposal submission date |
Term 1 | 19 February 2021 |
Term 2 | 14 May 2021 |
Term 3 | 06 August 2021 |
Term 4 | 29 October 2021 |
The Ministry of Education recently announced seven new PLD priorities designed to strengthen teacher and leadership capability in schools and Kāhui Ako.
The new priorities for English medium settings are:
- cultural capability
- local curriculum design
- assessment for learning
The new priorities for Māori medium settings are:
- mātauranga and te reo Māori
- marau ā-kura
- aromatawai
Effective leadership is vital and underpins all these priorities.
Effective leadership builds cross-school and cross-Kāhui Ako coherence, enabling leaders and teachers to work effectively and get the best possible outcomes for their learners.
